A basic and long-term pillar of collaboration of the Visegrad Group has been obviously cooperation in military affairs and defence. Over the years, V4 has been able to reach some considerable successes such as creation of the common Visegrad Battle Group (V4 EU BG) within the EU foreign policy and security structures or adopting the Joint Training Strategy. Still, it is possible to speak about a long journey ahead. V4 is currently striving for permanent military structure and harmonization of national defence and acquisition plans, including common armament development projects. In this efforts Germany is one of the strategic partners for deepening the extended V4 military cooperation.
