Iva Merheim-Eyre (born Svobodová) is a Research Fellow of the AMO. Her professional focus is in the field of democracy support, migration and sustainable development challenges. Her work is largely geographically focused on countries of the Western Balkans.
She graduated in Law at the Charles University, Faculty of Law, and Political Science with specialisation in Democratisation and Human Rights at the Masaryk University, Faculty of Social Studies. Between 2013 and 2014 she completed non-degree study stays at University of Tartu in Estonia and Tbilisi State University in Georgia.
Currently she works for the International Republican Institute in Brussels. In the past, she undertook missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina with UNDP and People in Need. As an analyst of energy efficiency alliance EuroACE she supported adoption of the European legislative package “Clean Energy for All Europeans“. She successfully completed several traineeships, including, at the European Commission and the Czech Representation to the United Nations in Geneva.
