AMO organizes a public debate in Brno on defense and security with representatives of the main political parties that shall participate in the 2017 elections to the Chamber of Deputies.
The annexation of Crimea and NATO under the threat posed by the Russian Federation. Brexit and a new chapter in looking for the shape of the EU. Donald Trump in the White House and increase in Czech defense spending. “European Army” under the old and yet new German-French tandem as well as the end of the debates on military duplication between the EU and NATO. How do the positions of the main Czech political parties differ in their outlook of these key international and European defense topics and in what ways should the Czech Republic participate on their resolution?
The above-mentioned issues will be addressed during the public debate of the political parties, as one of tasks of the the government resulting out of the October elections will be to clearly answer the question of what kind of army does the Czech Republic need in volatile international order as well as what we are willing to do in order to maintain the European security architecture embodied in NATO and the EU.
