China policy in Central and Eastern Europe is becoming harder to describe in terms of a simple divide between “pro-China” and “anti-China” governments. Russia’s war against Ukraine, China’s growing alignment with Moscow, uncertainty over US policy, domestic political changes, and differing levels of economic exposure to China are pushing governments in different directions.
