We have been working on supporting modern and open education in Ukraine since 2007. Our main focus is to pass on the successful Czech experience to the Ukrainian context and to link Czech and Ukrainian experts.
The main topics that we focus on include the introduction of innovative educational methods, inclusive education, and oral history. Since 2014, we have been, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, involved in the reform of the Ukrainian education system.
Our main target groups are teachers, methodology specialists, future teachers, and pupils and secondary school students. Thanks to the cooperation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, we also focus on the officials as well as other staffers in the area of education.
The project activities take place not only in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, but also in many regional centers, where we organize seminars.
We also cooperate with several Ukrainian universities and professional associations. Among our most important long-term partners in the Czech Republic belong Masaryk University and Charles University. Since 2017 we have partnered with the Czech School Inspectorate as well.
Since 2007, our Ukrainian projects have been kindly supported by the Transition Promotion Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. In 2010, they were co-funded by the Open Society Fund Prague and in 2013-2014 also by USAID – U.S. Agency for International Development. Since 2015, the projects aimed at reforming the system have been funded by the Czech Development Agency – CzechAid. In 2018, we organized the Oral History Summer School in Ukraine supported by the International Visegrad Fund and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
