Ondřej Andrys was Deputy Central Inspector of Schools of the Czech Republic from 2012 to 2022 and is now State Secretary at the Ministry of Education.

He graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Palacký University in Olomouc, completed postgraduate studies at the joint international MAE-MBA programme of the University of Economics in Prague and Jean Moulin University in Lyon, and successfully completed other studies and programmes, such as specific coaching training at the Masaryk Institute of Higher Studies at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

In the past, he taught at secondary and language schools, then worked as a university teacher at philosophical faculties in the Czech and Slovak Republics, translator, interpreter and consultant in the field of international relations, he also consulted in the field of management and development of public administration, headed an association of towns and municipalities, and managed a state contributory organization. He has been working in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports since 2011, he held the position of Deputy Central School Inspector in the Czech School Inspectorate for 11 years, and at the end of 2022 the Government of the Czech Republic appointed him as State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

He is an external lecturer at the Faculty of Education of Charles University, and he also cooperates professionally with Masaryk University in Brno. He is an active speaker of French and English and has passive knowledge of Latin, Polish, Italian and Russian. He is a recipient of the Medal of the National Educational Commission of the Republic of Poland, the Vasyl Sukhomlynsky Medal of Ukraine and the Czech National Medal for Merit for Security. He is married and has two sons.
