Launch of photo exhibition “Czech Assistance to Afghanistan”

Photo exhibition “Czech Assistance to Afghanistan” is on display at the main railway station in Ústí nad Labem. Main objective of the exhibition and the accompanying public discussions is to present the concept and activities of Czech-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Logar province in Afghanistan to general public. The exhibition, supported by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Railways and media partners ČRo Rádio Česko a České noviny, will travel to Pilsen, České Budějovice, Brno and two more cities after 17 September.

Czech German Young Professionals Network call for application has started

Czech German Young Professionals Program has launched the third year. Each year the CGYPP chooses twelve leaders to become part of a growing network of talented people. In a series of four workshops, the participants have the outstanding opportunity to discuss with distinguished Czech and German experts. We have the pleasure to present you Briefing paper "Energy Relations between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation". The paper deals with theory of interdependence and its use in energy relations between the Czech Republic and Russia to explain why the existing framework of energy relations can determine the energy policy of Russia to the Czech Republic and which decisions of Russia may be a threat to energy security of the Czech Republic. Author also examines how the European Union as a whole can contribute to change a framework for energy relations between the Czech Republic and Russia.

Briefing paper 5/2010

Association for International Affairs and EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy present a joint briefing paper on the prospective development of Czech foreign policy after the May elections. The authors analyze foreign policy programs of the parties of the expected coalition and the impact they will have on Czech position in such areas as the European Union, Transatlantic relations, Russia, human rights and transformation assistance. Additionally, the question of division of key canbinet foreign policy posts is addressed as well.

Association for International Affairs held a panel discussion concerning Contemporary Challenges of Development in Afghanistan. The speakers of the discussion were Ali A. Jalali, former Interior Minister of Afghanistan, Akbar Ayazi, RFE/RL Associate Broadcast Director responsible for Afghanistan, Persian, Pakistan, and Iraq broadcast services, and Ester Lauferová, special envoy for Czech Provincial Reconstruction Team in Logar Province.
