Civic Pole: mapping and connecting civil society efforts in Egypt’s regions

The project is a continuation of the CIVIC POLE I and CIVIC POLE II projects of the Association for International Affairs (AMO) that were implemented in 2012 and 2013.

General objectives of the project in 2014 are:

To create closed network of regional media and research groups in a joint venture programme through capacity building, skills acquisition and intensive exchange of ideas.
To expand the area of interest of the involved civil society actors beyond the strictly speaking political issues.
To support mutual cooperation between the two segments of the civil society.
To monitor and further promote citizens’ initiatives in selected governorates with regular meetings for exchange of individual programmes.
To contribute to the regional development.

Specific objectives of the project in 2014 are:

To develop the Civic Pole (CP) media project further.
To establish CP regional hubs to serve as potential connecting point in the future.
To provide skills acquisition scheme for journalists.
To elaborate joint ventures between journalists and researchers.
To provide a sustainable base for long-term networking within civil society.
To establish CP pool of individual and organised journalists and researchers and database for citizens’ initiatives.
